Reuben Henry Ellis

Passed away peacefully at home on 21 August 2025, aged 86 yrs, surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Leona, much-loved father and father in-law of Susanne & Martin, Grant & Cindy, and cherished Grandad to Daniel, Owen, and Fergus.

Born in Hokitika, Reuben was a much-loved and cherished friend to many in Christchurch, Nelson, and Richmond. A teller of many tales, he was a proud and active member of his community. Always eager to help, Reuben contributed generously to charity fundraisers and a wide range of clubs — from rugby refereeing and the Beekeepers’ Association in his younger years, to the Pelorus Boat Club, Stoke and Nelson Veterans Tennis, Richmond Bowling, and Probus committees in later life.

Reuben will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A life well lived, filled with humour and purpose.
