Losing someone close to you is hard emotionally and it also presents you with unfamiliar practical demands.  Everyday Simplicity Funerals offer care and compassion to people at a difficult time in their lives.  We understand that dealing with the loss of a loved one can be one of the hardest things someone will ever experience, which is why it is important to be given the opportunity, the time and support to grieve.

So how do we go about this you might ask?  Well let me explain a little more: –

Caring for the deceased

Caring for a deceased person is important to us.  We have beautiful modern facilities at our Haven Road premises, and pride ourselves in the level of care we offer.  We have experienced, qualified staff to take care of hygiene and sanitation whether it be embalming or refrigeration that the family have chosen.

Caring for families

Our experienced and fully qualified funeral directors have the knowledge and expertise to be able to offer the best guidance and support to our families to help create a meaningful farewell as the family wish.  From a simple to the most elaborate service that a family engages us for, we can walk you through every step of the way and hopefully make the process as stress free as possible.

We also provide our professional services free of charge to women and families that experience a baby loss.  The loss of a baby either during pregnancy or soon after birth is a particularly difficult loss, so our funeral directors will guide you through the options available and the next steps to take.

Caring for ourselves

In our roles as professionals and supporting others, it is important that we also look after ourselves.  Being available to cover an on-call roster can at times be challenging so we always ensure that we take an extra day break every second week and spend the long weekend with our own families and friends, or simply doing what we enjoy most of all.

As members of the FDANZ (Funeral Directors Association of NZ) we are continually refreshing, or studying, or simply keeping up to date with what is happening the in the funeral industry so that we are always able to share the most relevant information with our families, whilst retaining our Practising Certificates.

Caring for our community

Caring for our community is at the heart of what we do.  Whether it be via sponsorship, advertising, gifts, education or community service, every year Simplicity Funerals support many community groups, events or individuals.

Our community is the thread that brings us together and together we can support and strengthen when times are tough.

These are all the things that matter most to us at Simplicity Funerals.  A funeral home with a heart.

In 2000 I was honoured to be deployed with the New Zealand Deforce on the peacekeeping mission to East Timor. East Timor had been under foreign rule through most of its history, and most recently it had been under Indonesian control. Most of the East Timorese wanted to become independent, but there were groups who…

Positive Ageing; an Oxymoron?

We attended the Positive Aging Expo last weekend, and were impressed with the number and variety of groups and agencies represented. It’s a catchy title – ‘Positive Ageing’. It captures the opportunities available to people despite reaching and surpassing their SuperGold card eligibility date; places to live, places to go, activities to do, groups to…
